Nonoi…A Case Of Parental Neglect?

Have been following the trial of Nonoi, a 2yr old malay girl, found naked & decayed under a flyover last year. It has emerged that the girl stepfather had sexually assaulted & killed her. Coming so soon after the Huang Na case 2yrs earlier, another small girl who was sexually assaulted & killed, it makes me wonder what is happening to our society.

Where did all the values went? What kind of man would sexually assault a 2yr old defenceless girl who is as good as your very own daughter? From the trial & reports, Nonoi was paying the price for the highly dysfunctional and chaotic family background.

The mother is only 22 and had already been married thrice, with children from earlier marriages & has been convicted for some past crimes. Her new husband is a drug addict. I am very sure this family situation extends all the way back to to the mother/father/stepfather parents.

What is it about them that the notion of good parenting seems so alien? i.e bringing up children with the right values, putting our children at the front of all our priorities, caring, loving, providing & protecting them.

Latest DNA result was that the actual father of Nonoi was another man AND not the mother ex-husband. The ex-husband thought Nonoi was her biological daughter all along! It is always the young ones who pay the price for their parents mistakes and indiscretions.
